If there are no objections, I’m going to depreciate the amhs homepage (see sig) and create a facebook community instead. Almost no one ever used the website anyway. At least this way, people can put their contact details etc in a central location. I’ll leave the website up to host the FAQ, information about the facebook group and any other sundry materials.

This at least provides a central location for contact details and relevant announcements.

I’ll keep at least some part of this site going just to host the FAQ etc.

I’ve added a chatroom page. May try to organise some IRC meetups at some point. For now, you can try poping your head in to see if there is anyone in there.

Purpose of site

Welcome to this, the prototype alt.music.home-studio hubsite. The purpose of this site is to provide a central resource for all materials relating to the alt.music.home-studio newsgroup.

Site contents

The site will include an uptodate version of the FAQ but I will also maintain a copy in the usual place. The site will also supersede the amhs web-ring. The webring was never very successful. In hindsight web-rings are rather archaic. It can be difficult to include the code for the webring on some sites such as soundclick member pages.

Member links page

To be listed on the member links page, people can email me with their details and, if they like, a photo. The only qualification for inclusion on the membership page is that individuals have posted to the NG in the past.

Group wide events

The page can also be used as a resource for any group-wide events such as group competitions or IRC or real-life meetups. I have seen such attempts in other groups go awry largely due the lack of such a central resource.

In the case of such an organized event, the people involved can email me the details or I can give them a username and they can directly edit the page themselves.

Other ideas for resources:

A geographical map with members’ locations.
Other weblinks containing useful information.
Chatroom. I’ve set these up before so I just need to get around to it.
