This is alrready being done by a major distro: Linux Mint.

FACT is that Linux Mint has taken the approach to offer its releases on cdr size for some time now (labeled as &quot;no codecs&quot; on the mirror sites) and offering the user the opportunity, if desired, to get the full dvd distro, by just a click away, from the Mint main menu.
